8-LAYER GERMAN CHOCOLATE TOFFEE CAKE
Ingredients:
- 1 German Chocolate Cake mix
- 1 recipe vanilla cream filling
- 1 lb Vern's Toffee Toppings
- 1 recipe buttercream frosting
Directions:
Prepare German Chocolate Cake mix according to instructions. (Hint: substitute equal amount of buttermilk for the water; add 3 eggs and 1 dry vanilla pudding mix for moister cake.) Pour into 2 9-inch round cake pans and bake as instructed.
When cake has cooled completely, carefully slice cake with large serrated knife to make the individual layers. (Hint: if you tape parchment paper to the straight edge of the knife you can lift the individual layers of cake using the parchment paper without the layers falling apart.)
Spread 1/7th of cream filling on bottom cake layer and sprinkle 1/8th of Vern's Toffee Toppings over the filling; set next layer on top and repeat until all layers have been completed.
Frost top and sides of cake with buttercream frosting and sprinkle remaining Toffee Toppings over the top of the cake.
